Due to erosion of water resources, rising energy costs and slow-to-act Legislatures, regions such as Los Angeles, Arizona and Texas will undergo dramatic reductions in populations, while populations with less opportunities to migrate away from drought and famine, such as Argentina, Chile and Brazil and especially Africa, the Near East and South East Asia, will experience a dramatic rise in deaths. The riots have already begun and won't stop until the pain of this transition, for better or for worse, is over.

Europe is not immune from this trend, especially the Med and the French Riviera.

Regions that have already achieved balancebetween populations and lack of water will experience the least stress (i.e. the Sahara), as well as regions where water reserves are high (purple at right).

Copper: the primary mineral needed to expand energy systems is often located in areas of high stress, subject to civil strife. Chile is a prime example, as is the near East.

Sand (silica) for Fiberglass used for wind turbine blades is another material often found in regions lacking water and subject to civil unrest.
